Chapter 11. APPARENTLY… OUR LOGO IS EVIL? 👀
Share
Well, well, well… apparently we've upset the holier-than-thou committee. 😂
We've had a few people look at the VILLIANZ N THAT logo and imagery and decide that it's evil, demonic, satanic and probably responsible for at least three minor inconveniences before breakfast.
And honestly… we had to laugh.
Because it got us thinking: why are we so quick to judge art by what it looks like rather than what it actually represents?
Take Halloween. Spooky imagery, skulls, ghosts, witches, demons… apparently we're all supposed to believe that October 31st is when everyone collectively opens a portal to hell while eating Haribo.
Then you've got Gothic architecture and those incredible old churches covered in gargoyles, dark stone, dramatic figures and imagery that wouldn't look out of place on a VILLIANZ N THAT hoodie. And nobody walks into a Gothic cathedral and immediately screams, “SATAN HAS A MORTGAGE HERE!”
Even brands can have strange stories, symbolism and imagery attached to them. You can find a conspiracy theory about practically anything if you look hard enough online. The internet will investigate a cup of coffee like it's solving the JFK assassination.
But here's the important bit.
LOOK AT THE WHOLE STORY.
Don't judge VILLIANZ N THAT by one logo, one graphic or one image. Look at the message. Look at The Code – Villianz N That. Look at what we're actually trying to represent.
We're about the misunderstood, the misfits, the rebels, the outcasts and the rogues. We're about people who have been judged, labelled or written off and decided to write their own story instead.
We're about redemption, freedom, individuality, kindness, forgiveness and purpose.
We're not here to promote evil.
We're here to question why someone gets labelled a villain in the first place.
And yes… our logo has a dark, graffiti-inspired, slightly rebellious look.
Because let's be honest… it's bloody cool. 😂
If a logo with attitude automatically makes something evil, then somebody better have a word with half the streetwear industry.
So before you decide what VILLIANZ N THAT represents, look beyond the picture.
Read the story.
Understand the mission.
Look at the people we're trying to represent.
Then make your judgement.
Because ironically, judging something without understanding it is exactly the kind of behaviour VILLIANZ N THAT was created to challenge.
The logo isn't the villain.
Maybe the judgement is.
And yes…
we still think the logo looks damn good. 😎
