Are dark jokes not funny?

Apparently, some people think they aren’t. But dark humour is a strange thing. Sometimes you hear a joke and think, “That is absolutely awful…” followed immediately by “…but I can’t stop laughing.”

So here are 5 dark jokes. And before anyone complains, remember: we wrote these ourselves. They’re not exactly going to win us a comedy award, but you know what? We tried. 😂

1. 🪦

I want my funeral to be a massive party.

Not because I want people to celebrate my life.

I just want to hear what everyone really thought of me.

2. 💀

My grandfather wanted his ashes scattered somewhere beautiful.

So we scattered them in the garden.

He’s now helping the flowers grow.

Finally, he’s contributing to the household.

3. ☠️

My doctor told me I need to stop drinking.

I asked, “Forever?”

He said, “No, just while you’re at the hospital.”

Apparently, that’s frowned upon.

4. 😈

I told my therapist I have anger issues.

He said I need to learn how to control my emotions.

So I fired him.

Problem solved.

5. 🖤

My family said I’m obsessed with death.

I told them that’s ridiculous.

I haven’t thought about it all day.

…well, except when I was writing this.

OK, OK… these are the ones we could think of.

They’re not that great, we know. 😂

But do you know who actually IS funny?

Ricky Gervais.

The undisputed king of dark humour.

Ricky has spent years being villainised for saying things that some people don’t want to hear. Yet behind the controversial comedian is a bloke who is famously passionate about animals and animal welfare — and, judging by some of his comments, he might genuinely prefer animals to humans. 😂

And that’s what makes him a perfect example of what we mean by VILLAINZ N THAT.

Sometimes the person everyone calls a villain isn’t actually a villain.

Sometimes they’re just blunt, weird, rebellious, misunderstood… and absolutely unwilling to apologise for having a sense of humour.

Be different. Be weird. Be controversial. Be yourself.

Just don’t be evil. 😈

And if you’ve got a little villain in you, you might as well dress like one.
