CHAPTER 10. WAS JUDAS A VILLAIN??

CHAPTER 10. WAS JUDAS A VILLAIN??

Judas. The name has become almost synonymous with betrayal. But was Judas simply a villain?

Well… yes, he did something terrible. Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, identifying Him to those who came to arrest Him. That part of the story is difficult to defend.

But here's the bit we sometimes forget: Judas wasn't an outsider. He was one of Jesus' Twelve apostles. He followed Jesus, travelled with Him, listened to His teachings, witnessed miracles and was trusted enough to help manage the group's money. He wasn't simply some evil character who appeared out of nowhere. He was part of the story. He did good. He was there.

And then he made a terrible choice.

Which brings us to Peter.

Peter is often remembered as one of Jesus' greatest followers. But didn't Peter also fail spectacularly? He denied knowing Jesus three times when the pressure was on. Fear got the better of him. Yet Peter is remembered very differently.

So what's the difference?

Perhaps it's what happened after the failure.

Judas became overwhelmed by what he had done, while Peter ultimately returned, repented and continued his journey. The story reminds us that failure doesn't necessarily have to be the end of your story.

And that's where things get uncomfortable.

Because look around the world. People betray relationships for money. Friends turn on friends because of jealousy. People lie because they're afraid. People hurt others because of greed, anger, insecurity or simply because they're human.

We can all become the villain in somebody else's story.

That doesn't excuse the things we do. Wrong is still wrong. But perhaps it should make us think twice before we're so quick to judge another person's entire life by their worst moment.

VILLIANZ N THAT isn't here to pick Team Judas or Team Peter. We're here to ask a bigger question:

Who are we to judge the whole story when we only see a chapter?

Only God truly knows the heart. Our job is to look at ourselves first, be kind, show mercy, ask for forgiveness when we've messed up and try to become better than the person we were yesterday.

Maybe we've all been Judas at some point.

Maybe we've all been Peter.

And maybe we've all needed redemption.

So if you've ever made mistakes, been judged by your past, or felt like you belonged among the outcasts, maybe there's a place for you here.

Take a look at our OUTCASTS collection. Find something that speaks to your story and wear it as a reminder:

Your worst chapter doesn't have to be your ending.
